At Sea; Drake Passage and South Atlantic

Day 32
At Sea; Drake Passage and South Atlantic

The sea day started out cloudy with moderate swells. The visibility slowly improved throughout the day. We lost one passenger from a medical emergency in the morning.

At 1405 we passed, port to port, the MS Vollendam of Holland America Lines as she was heading to Antarctica. We exchanged ships horns salutes as we passed and the decks of both ships were populated with waving travelers.

Onboard we had port lectures and “sit and stitch.” Oh yes, Mah Jongg too.
There are several cabins now without adequate heat and those passengers are not happy about it. In addition there are several cabins without hot water and have been so for many days. The Princendam needs to have these as well as other problems (electrical outages) addressed before another long voyage.
