Days 40 and 41
Sea Days

14 February was cloudy with calm seas. A few fishing boats and sea birds now and then but nothing else to accent the openness of the Atlantic well off the coast of Brazil. This formal night for Valentine's Day, but we had dinner in the cabin and skipped the dance.

15 February

Started with a 1 mile deck walk. Cloudy and warm. Damp too. The ship is entering the Horse Latitudes, which has no equine affect as we have no horses aboard. This does mean it is time to switch to white dinner jacket on formal nights. The dining room and kitchen crews hosted a Philippine buffet today with authentic dishes. This special lunch was the best of the voyage to date.

Position report as of 1500 (I was busy eating at noon) 27° 24.01S and 047° 04.20W. Course 032°. Speed 15.4k. Wind N at 16 knots (Force 5) Sea state 2. Air temp 25C 77F. Distance traveled 10,724. Sunrise 0652. Sunset 1952.
